5 Tips to Healthier Hair: Tip #2- Deep Condition with the Triple Condition Method

This is a method I picked up when poking around on forums at LHCF.com. I have heard it referred to as the Reconditioning Method, I personally prefer to call it the Triple Condition Method (TCM). I started using this shortly after Miss Jessie's consultant told me my hair was dry and needed a DC, even though I had deep conditioned it the night before. With all that said, I do this weekly.

So here's how I deep condition...

  1. Apply the DC to your hair in sections making sure to coat every hair strand. Detangle your conditioner saturated hair. It is best to put hair into 4, 6 or 8 sections of twists or braids after detangling (I prefer twists). I use a mixture I create with J.A.Y. Aubrey Organics Conditioner and some jojoba oil, aloe vera juice, olive oil and some Desert Essence Red Raspberry Conditioner.

  1. Next, apply a plastic shower cap and sit under a Hair Therapy Wrap or conditioning heat cap or warm dryer for about 10-15 minutes.

  1. Take off your plastic cap and run your fingers over your head to feel for any dry spots, then apply more conditioner there and smooth it out. This is also the best time to apply more conditioner to breakage prone areas of your hair.

  1. Put your plastic cap on again and sit under the heat cap again for 10 minutes.

  1. Remove the plastic cap and apply more conditioner to weak spots such as your hairline and ends.

  1. Sit under heat cap or dryer w/plastic cap for the 3rd time for 10 minutes.

  1. Now smooth an oil of choice (I choose olive oil mixed with castor oil), on to your ends and throughout you hair to help seal the moisture in this time. This part is called an oil rinse.

  1. Then, rinse out your hair in the shower with more conditioner and detangle again lightly, under the showerhead.

  1. Finish with a cold water rinse to lock in the moisture. Then an ACV rinse, with proportions literally being one and a half teaspoons of ACV to 16oz water.

This is the method I use and I also apply a homemade/mixed leave in conditioner (kimmay tubes) after this, before styling.

Using heat with deep conditioning helps your hair cuticles to open up and allow the moisture in, the same methodology is used for your pores. The reason behind this continuous application of conditioner is to basically give your hair moisture until it is stuffed like a thanks giving day turkey and wont take anymore. The way you can tell that your hair has has its fill is when the conditioner is just sitting on top of your hair and not penetrating it. When your hair has had its fill you can rinse the rest out. If you intend to DC overnight, do the first 7 steps then in place of the 8th, go to sleep instead of rinsing it out of your hair.

So give the triple condition method a try and see if your hair is happier after this pampering session! I will post again about deep conditioning and some of the components of deep conditioner.

Avocado Hair StrengtheningTreatment

Hello Ladies!

So I gave myself an Avocado hair treatment a few weeks ago. I wanted mine to be more fortifying than conditioning so here are the ingredients I used:

3/4 of Haas Avocado

1 Egg

3tbs Olive Oil (appx.)

2tbs bottled water (appx.)

2tbs REAL Mayonnaise (heaping)

This is the recipe I created myself. It was AMAZING. The next time I do it I will take photos. I recorded the creation so that video will be up soon. I put it on moistened hair, not shampooed. Mine was a bit too runny.
The results were:
Soft, slightly loosened curl (temporary), manageable, less tangled hair. I loved this treatment, I will be trying to stick myself to doing it at least twice a month and on the off weeks maybe do an egg protein treatment. My hair is very thin, as in the actually strands so that is why I am putting so much protein in it. I will do a post about protein treatments tomorrow.

Also, keep in mind the posting I did on protein shakes was not just about fitness, it also helps to take whey protein shakes for your hair.

Also please note that not every person's hair will like Avocado, my best friend tried it on her hair and hers felt brittle and dry after words. Try it first and see if your hair likes it, then you'll know if you want to make it a staple or not.

Love love!

♥ ♥ April Favorites ♥ ♥

Hey Ladies!

Here are my April Favorites!!

1. Burt's Bees Lemon Cuticle Butter

This cuticle butter is the best! I've been using it for my last few personal manicures. It is great it absorbs so quickly and its small and easy to carry around. I will be doing a review on it in a few days. I apply it twice a day when I can remember, day and night. It's an HG (holy grail) product for me.

2. Blended Cuties Down & Out Styles

This hair styling cream is the exact same formula as the Blendedy Beauty Happy Nappy Styles, I purchased this one because it was on sale on NaturallyCurly.com's website, while Happy Nappy Styles was not. The cream looks like the color and consistency of Duncan Hines Yellow Cake batter. It smells good to me, it isn't an overwhelming scent at all and I don't believe you'll smell it on your hair later. I used it to do a half coil. This means I didn't do full on coils, I used smaller sections of hair. People seemed to love this half coil I did. This cream may end up being a staple. I will try it a few more times and if it is versatile enough.

3. Kinky Curly Curling Custard

So this curling custard gave me the most defined curls I've ever had, even when my hair is wet it isn't this defined and curled. This custard is the bomb and I plan on trying Kinky Curly Knot Today under it to get a softer hold and curl. I love this stuff!!

4. Paul Mitchell: The Conditioner

This conditioner is the greatest. I love the slip it provides on my hair. I use it in my twists along with Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding and Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream. It has a great feel on my hair and along with those other products, it provides amazing shine and moisture to my hair.

5. Nail Tek Foundation II

This foundation does wonders in filling ridges and in making a smoother surface for nail polish to be applied over. It would seem many people agree, I've seen loads of Youtube Vids with this as a favorite or being used.

6. Seche Vite Top Coat

This is the best, fastest drying top coat. One thing to be careful of is the fact that the top will dry quickly, but that doesn't mean the undercoats are dry. You can still do minor things, but try not to bump it around too much. After roughly 10-15 minutes it will be 'safe for wear.'

7. Alba Botanica: Coconut Cream/ Alba Botanica: Passion Fruit

This lip balm is amazing. It is all organic and it works wonders on moisturizing your lips. I have both formulas, they both smell great. Its not too waxy or too oily. I've been using it for months! I love it.

8. Bio Oil

This oil is great it has actually visibly lightened this horrible scar I have on my forehead from curling my bangs back during last summer when I still used my heat styling tools. I didn't even use it for too many days, I forgot after a few but I've noticed to lightening.

9. New York Sport Club Membership :)

Yeah... a little off from my other favorites, but it is one of my favorites! I love this gym its the bomb! I just got my membership a few days ago actually, but I love it already.

10. My New Phone Cover!! :)

Can I just say... CUTTTTEEEE!!!!! Its so colorful and pretty and girly. I love it its super, uber cute! Just look at it! :)

Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deep Moisture Conditioner (SASC)

Naturales!!!!

Can I just say this product is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!! When I first put it in my hair if felt so nice and smooth and just glorious. Now, I'm not sure if this had anything to do with the Apple Cider Vinegar rinse I did the day before. I do believe though, that it had nothing to do with the ACV. My hair felt like pure SILK!!!!
I did not use shampoo in my hair when I used the Giovanni SASC, I had done an ACV rinse the day before, so it was unnecessary, this was simply a co-wash. I applied it to my hair after fully saturating my hair with water and rubbed it into my hair in sections. I concentrated on my roots and then I detangled it with a wide tooth comb. I let it stay in my hair for roughly 3 minutes then rinsed it out.

After I put the Giovanni Smooth As Silk Conditioner in I used Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner as a leave in conditioner.

This stuff is like heaven... its like the clouds that line heaven are your hair.It retails for roughly $7-9. I bought it at a BOGO sale so it was half off.

Ulta sells it as well as Rite Aide and Pathmark.

Here are the ingredients:

Ingredients
Aqua (Purified Water), Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis) Oil*, Nettle (Urtica Dioica) Oil*, Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris) Oil*, Birch Leaf (Butela Alba) Oil*, Chamomile (Anthemis Nobilis Flower) Oil*, Clary (Salvia Sclarea)*, Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia)*, Coltsfoot Leaf (Tussilago Fargara)*, Yarrow (Achillea Millefolium) Oil*, Mallow (Malya Sylvestris)*, Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense) Oil*, Soybean Protein (Glycine Soja)*, Cetyl Alcohol (Plant Derived), Stearalkonium Chloride, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Trace Minerals, Citric Acid (Corn), Sodium Hydromethylglycinate, Grapefruit Seed (Citrus Derived).
*Certified Organic

Did you SEEE the ingredients! Some of them are amazing and edible! The shampoo is rumored to be just as amazing, as well the shampoo has vegetable protein in it so if your hair or skin has isues with protein, then maybe you shouldn't use this product.

Here is a video I went and found just so people have a video to reference for a hair washing process with Giovanni SAS until I have one up myself. This video is done by the lovely Kimmaytube
. Subscribe!! :)
